This coffee is sourced from Raw Material, a social enterprise exporter. As a company they return 100% of profits to producing countries through community programs and premiums.
In April 2018 they built their first custom wet mill in Timor-Leste: the Atsabe Community Wet Mill. Farmers from local villages bring it to this wet mill for processing and preparation for export. This lot is the washed process lot from the Laclo village. The village only has 500 families as members and 150 of them produce coffee.
This coffee is pulped and put on raised beds for 25 days with some of its mucilage still attached to the seeds. The mucilage is absorbed slightly by the seed and increases the sugar-like sweetness of the final cup.
